About The Circle of Janus
Janus, the mythical Roman god thought by the ancient Romans to have charge over doors and gates, beginnings and endings, had two faces, one to see the past and one to look into the future. In a more abstract sense, Janus represented the all-too-rare ability to see two or more seemingly contradictory concepts represented at once (such as good and evil) both present in the same character. For these reasons and others, Janus was selected as the symbol of the Circle of Janus Science Fiction & Fantasy Fan Club.
The Circle of Janus is the longest existing Science Fiction & Fantasy fan club of central Indiana. We were founded in 1979 at a time when no other central Indiana SF&F fan clubs existed. Our goal is to serve the local fan community by providing a social forum and gathering place for those with a common interest in SF&F, to promote these genres in all their forms and the promotion of literacy through the SF&F genres. We meet on the first Saturday of every month (other than July, September and December). The meetings are open to the general public and SF&F fans of all ages are welcome to attend.
Annual membership fees for The Circle of Janus are $20 and are due each January. Membership dues for new members joining at any other time during the year are prorated based on the number of months remaining in that year. Membership dues can be paid online. If you prefer to pay by check or money order, you may send your membership dues to: COJ Memberships, P.O. Box 2921, Indianapolis, IN 46206.
If you'd like to be added to our e-mail list, and receive monthly updates on club events, go to The COJ Newsletter List Server and add your e-mail address to our COJ Newsletter mailing list. Circle of Janus members are automagically added to the The COJ Members List Server which includes the newsletter mailings in addition to club member communications.

Other Projects
One of the major projects of The Circle of Janus is the planning, sponsorship, and hosting of the annual InConJunction Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention. Held every year in July since 1981, InConJunction is a fan-run, not-for-profit, SF&F convention with a strong focus on our literary roots.
InConJunction has something for everyone, with panels on writing, movies and television, comic books, artwork, science and technology, culture, fandom, entertainment and much more. At most times, there will be three or four panels going at the same time, giving you plenty of choices. If at any time you can't find a panel that interests you, we also have a dealers' room, art show, gaming room, and various special interest group rooms and tables, including a Doctor Who room and an Anime room. If none of that appeals, the con suite makes a great place to relax, meet people, and have some very interesting conversations. In the evenings, there's the dance, late night horror readings, midnight movies, and many attendees throw their own room parties.
If you're looking for a convention that offers you a lot more than the typical handful of panels, a dealers' room and autograph sessions, then InConJunction might be just what you're looking for.
